Updated Autopsy Report

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! Today we're going back to one of the classics, one of the originators of the locked room mystery! From legendary author Gaston Leroux, we meet the rosy-cheeked and big-foreheaded Joseph Rouletabille, and 18-year-old journalist with a penchant for solving mysteries. When Mathilde Stangerson is nearly murdered in a securely locked room, he leaps at the chance to solve this seemingly impossible crime! We meet some wacky characters, look at a lot of footprints, scale some walls, and bump into each other in hallways like we're in a Scooby-doo episode. Also Rose and Ben spend several minutes in the post-show discussing the new Carly Rae Jepsen album (if you're interested in that)!

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! All that steeling ourselves, and for what? A perfectly average movie! Not terrible, not good - just straight up average! And after Death on the Nile (2022), boy does this taste sweet! Like honey, perhaps? Wait, what's in this... I don't feel so good Mr. Poirot. Anyway, we discuss deadly wallpaper, Michelle Yeoh, Tin Fey, if we make anything of the mysterious spirits running amok, and bees. Bees! Also, Ben apologizes for his voice being a bit off on this recording, as he was juuuuust getting over a cold. Anyway, kick off spooky season with some spooky Poirot!

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! We can all agree it's bad to kill a child, right? What about two children, going on three? Also pretty bad. But what if the children just had bad vibes? Well, don't worry, Poirot will still solve the case nonetheless. In this spooky episode, Poirot is summoned to investigate the murder of a child during an apple bobbing incident, and in the process digs up the entire town's dirty secrets. We discuss cozy crime, money-grubbing priests, pagan rituals, and Big Walk! And then we steel ourselves before going back into the Branagh mines...

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! Sometimes we aren't all on the same page. Sometimes we dislike a piece of media. Sometimes we like it, but we acknowledge it still doesn't cohere. Rarely to we get to pull out the full gallon of pure, concentrated Haterade like we do for Death on the Nile (2022). Hoo boy, this one is rough, and we do our best to tackle a messy movie that stars several uh... shitty people. Branagh tries to make this film epic and give pathos to Poirot that unfortunately doesn't work for any of us. Join us for a romp through this disaster of a movie!

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! We're continuing our movie marathon of Poirot adaptations with John Guillermin's 1978 rendition of Death on the Nile, another lavish production with on-location shooting, many extras, and a star-studded cast. This time however, Peter Ustinov takes on the role of Hercule Poirot, and he does a fine job with a slightly different take on the character that nevertheless endears himself to us. We also cover Angela Lansbury's delightfully wacky performance, the cowardly communist, the many death sequences, and other escapades on the boat. We also cover Rose's recent move, Tiago debating which Poirot he likes more, and we also answer a listener question from loooong ago!

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! Well, not this time. Sorta! We've jumped into the future now with a more recent adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express, from famed actor/director Kenneth Branagh, which promises bombast and glamour, plus an expensive train set! We debate the validity of fight scenes, the changes to the original story, the expansive cast, and Branagh's portrayal of the iconic detective Poirot. Plus we get into our usual side tangents, discover a treasure trove of hidden Apple Podcasts reviews from other countries, and of course: cinnamontography.

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! Time to figure our whodunnit! Is it annoying millionaire Knox (who hid crucial evidence), Khalkis himself, Sloane (who died under not-very-suicide-ish circumstances), or someone else entirely?! No one guesses correctly this time, although we do get within spitting distance. We also discuss the World Cup, what constitutes a "Fujiko," and the various goobers that we meet in this story. We also discuss Ellery's racism quota. It's a full pod!

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! It's time to reacquaint ourselves with the young Ellery Queen, who actually is younger this time, as The Greek Coffin Mystery takes place before The Roman Hat Mystery, chronologically. When a second body is found inside the coffin of dead art collector Georg Khalkis, all hell breaks loose in a huge cast of characters that all are trying to get at... something! Whether it's a (possible) Leonardo da Vinci painting, the missing will, or just a really big bed that everyone sleeps in, we're gonna do our best to keep track of everything. Which one of you flatfoots stole my will?!

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! Going back to the fridge for more Poirot... although maybe we ate our food faster than we should've! Another delightful episode, this time featuring a terrible movie studio head, a mysterious neighbor family, and Inspector Japp being oblivious again. Also Poirot sends Hastings away because he's too much of a blabbermouth to help out with the finale of this case! Aging movie stars, young movie stars, and Timothee Chalamet. All the stars are here!

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! This episode we're diving into the LWT/ITV production of Agatha Christie's Poirot, starring the legendary David Suchet! We're immediately tickled by the intro, Suchet's performance, and the additions and expansions of the cast that make for some solid television! Not only do we discuss the main plot and wacky Australian lawyer decoy plot, we also get into discussions on allergies, how various detectives might use Letterboxd, and TMNT coffins. You know, normal stuff.
