The Decagon House Murders (Part 1)

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! Ahh, feels good to sink back into some comfortable pajamas, sit back, and read a book about the dark sin underpinning all of society as several classmates slowly unravel their friendships and turn against one another in a horrible murder plot! That's built on top of an earlier murder plot! We dive into The Decagon House Murders, the iconic novel from Yukito Ayatsuji that ushered in the era of shin honkaku mysteries! We debate the possible motives and killers, lounge around with Shimada and Kawaminami as they investigate, and discuss the possibility of our own murder mystery island vacation one day. It's got the juice, folks!

Schlock Homes (Part 2)

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! Well, is everyone sick of puns now? We are! Oh baby, we just fought uphill and back, through two anime conventions, illness, and more life stuff, but we made it! Schlock Homes is complete. Bathroom readers were not meant to be shotgunned back-to-back like this. However, we still find some fun bits to appreciate, like Homes and Watney's excessive drinking, Watney's desire to watch cartoons, art history humor for Rose, and several goofy punctuation jokes that work amazingly on the page but are a bit harder to describe. So long, and thanks for all the Fish!

Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! You better be ready for some puns! Actually, not just some puns... a TON of puns! This wacky parody of Sherlock Homes by Robert L. Fish is a silly pun-vehicle, delivering dump trucks full of every possible pun imaginable. The whole time the two confidently stumble into the wrong solution - but they're solutions nonetheless. Did we expire under the weight of these puns? Join us as Ben, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! We're doing it! We're finally doing it! It's time for the queen of mysteries herself, Agatha Christie, to make her UAR debut! We're quickly enamored by the cast of characters here, such as our sexist narrator Dr. Sheppard, his gossiping sister Caroline, and the sweet yet stalwart Flora. Of course, it all orbits around our clever and persnickety detective, Hercule Poirot, who apparently was a surprise to Tiago! Columbo - Etude in Black

Join us as Ben, Dessy, Tiago, and Rose cover the inspirations behind Ace Attorney! Time to start 2026 with a beautiful fantasy: a world in which cops are good, rich men get their comeuppance, and every murder gets solved. Yes, we're back with our good friend Columbo, who is this time up against John Cassavetes as Alex Benedict, an arrogant orchestra conductor that murders his mistress. We discuss the first appearance of the bestest little guy Dog, the wise-beyond-her-years neighbor girl Audrey, and of course, the (technically) first time Gwyneth Paltrow is on film. Yes, we talk about Goop. Also, we make an announcement at the end: Dessy will be stepping back from the podcast for a bit due to scheduling and personal reasons, but don't worry! Anytime things line up, we'll have them back on (they just won't be a regular for the time being). Whenever a new AA game comes out though, we'll be sure to reunite the full cast, so... Capcom? You're on notice!
